#3627 Arisaka WW2 Japanese Type 99 “Last Ditch” infantry rifle, 7.7mm
Description:

#3627 Arisaka WW2 Japanese Type 99 “Last Ditch” infantry rifle, 7.7mm, 67xxx serial range, very late production (probably c,1945) and thus showing the great haste in getting this rifle into combat. These “last ditch” guns were VERY crudely made, rough finished, and even had a rough wood buttplate! Certainly these rifles were no serious competitor to our M-1 Garand and not even close to a WW1 vintage Springfield ’03-A3 …and no where near the now high quality of their present-day automobiles, but more like the cheapie toys that proliferated from Japan after the War ended. The sights are fixed with no adjustments and extremely rudimentary in design, almost pre-1800 in their simplicity. These examples of the M-99 were definitely the last dying gasps of the Japanese military establishment in an attempt to arm the troops with anything that went >bang<. This particular rifle looks to probably have been issued …and while it doesn’t have any extreme wear, it is just dusty, dirty, and looks like a “barn find”. As is usually the case with these war trophy rifles, the Emperors “Chrysanthemum” has been typically ground off denoting this as being a surrendered weapon, and I have taken photos of the arsenal mark (…but don’t know myself which one this is). About Very Good+ to VG++condition. Getting tougher to find these original unaltered Arisakas as so many were sporterized into cheap deer rifles! FFL or C&R required. Was $265 ...now $210
