#4263 Winchester 1894 rifle, OBFMCB 25-35WCF, with a VG++ bore, mfg 1897
Description:
#4263 Winchester 1894 rifle, OBFMCB 25-35WCF, with a VG++ bore (about a 7+ on a scale of 10, being kind of dark in the grooves but no pitting or serious wear), 72XXX serial range (1897), smooth solid action. The exterior retains 70-80% coverage of a 70% density original dulling blue on the frame, the barrel and magazine being 80% and 60% respectively. The frame is about 60% coverage of a thin plum blue-brown patina.Fine markings with the correct early rear upper tang patent markings ….and what would have been “fine wood” if some former owner with a low mentality, most likely, had not have gotten bored while out deer hunting (and probably liquored up as well) and then carved his initials in the wood! Period after-market Marbles full buckhorn rear barrel sight, standard pinched blade front. Overall, just a nice honest antique 112 year old Winchester in a VERY scarce caliber as being pre-1898 mfgr; most 25/35s were made between 1905 and 1950. Fine+. Was $1665....now $1475
