Description:
#4881 Colt 1851 Navy, 4th Variation, 115XXX (matching except for the wedge is an old replacement and so unnumbered). Early to mid-1861 manufacture and so this revolver was made right at the time when the Civil War was really beginning to heat up. This Colt Navy was almost CERTAIN to have been either a brigade or state purchase and likely saw service throughout that terrible conflict (although most likely by a higher ranking officer who did not use it heavily). The action is functioning well and timing is tight and in tune. It does have a decent black powder bore with no serious craters or blems; just the usual leading and light pitting. VG+ smooth grayish brown patina on VG metal, VG markings, fine scene about 85% intact, very decent grips with just light to moderate wear.. VG as described. $1795
