Description:
#4922 Winchester 1873 RBFMCB 44WCF, 13XXX (1877), scarce 1st Variation with mortised thumbprint dustcover and over-length 28” barrel! (Not many round barrel extra lengths in the 1st Model series). Smooth tight action, Very Fine bore, about a 8-9 on a scale of 10; bright rifling with no pitting and just some minor dirt in the grooves. Should clean to at least a 9-1/2 with some light cleaning and looks like it will be a fine shooter (after a safety check, of course). Smooth even plum brown patina with fine edges and sharp barrel markings. Fair/Good wood having cracks in the forestock and a minor crack in the butt, plus having nicks, dings, chipping, etc ...but is sound and could be used as it is. Correct barrel, elevator, and tang markings, dust cover, sights, butterfly lever latch, etc. A really crisp early (and scarce) First Model. There are lots of pictures of this neat old gun (about 20) so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. VG++ as described. $3250
