Guns International #: 100372968
Seller's Inventory #: #4961
#4961 Colt S/A, 4-3/4”x44WCF, 148XXX serial range (1892 mfgr), good tight action with all the “clicks” on the hammer and about a “7” bore as rated on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best. This configuration is one of the most popular of all the civilian Single Actions and being somewhat immortalized in the 1960s by the late Marty Robbins in the song, “Mister Shorty” ( youtube/watch?v=L0bcALLEgwI?) about a “short-barreled bad forty-four” and the small man packing it. This particular gun looks just like what is portrayed in that song as a gunfighters six-gun. It has well worn grips from many years of being carried and used extensively, but yet the mechanics are very good and markings are as follows: The famed “CFSS” barrel logo has been worn off toward the muzzle end from many, many holsterings, but the correct two-line barrel address is still intact, as are the serial numbers and other markings. Overall the metal is just a grayish-brown thin patina with the usual bumps and dings of a much used 121 year life. There are lots of pictures of this neat little Single Action, so if they all do not load up, be sure to e-mail me and I’ll forward them along to you. VG overall, as described. $2850
