#4961 Colt S/A, 5-1/2”x38WCF, 144XXX range (1892), VG bore
Description:
#4961 Colt S/A, 5-1/2”x38WCF, 144XXX range (1892), VG bore, about a 7 on a scale of 10 with just minor lead build-up and some minor wear, but no bad spots. Fine tight smooth action with all the clicks on the hammer and a crisp lock-up. The smooth metal is very fine with no appreciable pitting. Fine markings and still retains some faint traces of swirly greys of faded casehardening on the rear left side of the frame, some fading and thinning traces of barrel blue, and a thin grey patina over most of the remaining surface. Hard rubber Eagle style grips, which are likely replacements because they show virtually no wear at all but do fit extremely well. Overall a very, VERY decent and very handsome 5-1/2” Colt in a great shooters caliber (having better ballistics than its 44cal big brother). VG++ $3395
