#4997 Colt Model 1889 D/A, 4-1/2”x38COLT, 21XXX range
Description:
#4997 Colt Model 1889 D/A, 4-1/2”x38COLT, 21XXX range, 7+ bore, VG action. Produced only between 1889 to 1894, this model double action is an important Colt “link” as these were the FIRST of the Colt companys modern swing-out cylinder design. And while this model still had some basic flaws in the cylinder stop design, it was basically a good overall design concept and was later upgraded in the Model 1894. This example retains about 85% coverage of a 60% density dull blue and VG markings. There are a few light scratches in the frame blue at the rear of the recoil shield. The Colt logo hard rubber grips are VG when viewed from the side, but when viewed from the rear, there are chips at the locater pins at the grip bottom. The assembly numbers are matching. A very decent early swing-out Colt and somewhat more scarce than the 6” barrel length. About “Fine”. $1145
