Colt Single Action .44 Russ & Special caliber revolver. Colt Single Action Army belonged to famous gun writer Elmer Keith. Made in 1926. Customized single action that once belonged to famous gun enthusiast Elmer Keith. This gun was highly customized since it left the factory. Modifications include a new barrel and cylinder. Custom front and rear sights, custom ivory grips with a scrimshawed buffalo done by Keith, custom hammer with holes drilled in the front to lighten the hammer and a custom trigger. Keith helped develop both the .357 magnum and the .44 magnum. Along with this gun comes a factory letter and a letter from noted firearms dealer Ray Brazille detailing how he came about this gun. Also this gun comes with a carved leather Red Mueller holster of Denver, Colorado. Formerly in the Bill Powell collection. Gun is also pictured twice in the book Handbook Handguns by Timothy Mullin.
