Description:
Rare, original Winchester take-down thickside Highwall single-shot with 30″ rifle and shotgun barrels. Rifle barrel is match-grade, cut rifled .577 by Kreiger with Alex Henry-style rifling. Shape of barrel is classic British ovoid with full length top flat fully matted by Winchester’s original equipment. Both barrels were laboriously final-shaped by hand by Ralf Martini. Shotgun barrel has a full length, integral rib, also fully matted. Both barrels have barrel end caps for protection. Action and lever have had extensive, but subtle reshaping in lower rear area to achieve a “round action” effect. Finely checkered trigger is all new, British sporting-style. Classic Arms “blind” tangs and through bolt system includes an all new, evenly curved lower tang, which incorporates into the Classic Arms steel trap pistol grip cap. The lever is very finely checkered also. Stock is an extraordinary, pre-war exhibition-grade “marble-cake” Circassian walnut with leather covered recoil pad. Checkering is British-style. Rifle weighs 10 lbs. Shotgun weighs 7¾ lbs. Lee Griffiths engraved scenes of the extinct, giant Irish stag, and the Scottish lion in gold on the pistol grip cap’s lid, as well as the remainder of the scrolls and detailing, lettering, etc. Best quality English-style oak and leather case with canvas outer cover by Ray Sterck.
