A 20 round box of Long Range Shot Cartridge Cases
Description: An oblong box measuring 1 5/8 "X 7 3/4" with a black printed green label for "20 thread wound long-range, shot cartridge cases for muzzle and breech-loading, cylindrical and choke bore shotguns. Manufactured by H.H. Schleber and Co. Rochester,N.Y. " 3 charges are marked "Yards 90 Gauge 10" and contain shot with a wood plug. 4 appear to have no shot and are labeled" yards 50, gauge 10" one has a wood plug. 2 are thread wound with no outer wrapper and no plug . All of the labeled ones are marked on the label "Cut aAong This Line", and "Patented November 10, 1874". One end of the box cover is missing but would be an easy repair. This is a very scarce box with an excellent label the cartridges are very scarce and from the era of transition and experimentation in the mid 1870's. A great collector box.
