Antique Adams & Co. Solid Frame Cased 6 shot Revolver

Description:
A 4 15/16" oval barrel revolver in .45 Webley. caliber with serial No. 4005 on the butt. The top frame is engraved "Adams & Co. 9 Finsbury Place South London" . This address antedated 1880 when Henry Adams moved to 32 Finsbury Pavement. The revolver is Birmingham proofed and nickel plated with checkered walnut one piece grips. Plate 35 in "Adams Revolvers" by W.H.J Chamberlain and A.W.F. Taylerson refers to this type as a 6 chambered rod ejecting double action "Constabulary" revolver with separate barrel screwed into the frame and steel cylinder. The bore grades bright, excellent. In a compartment oak case with green baize lining. One compartment holds a horn handle turn screw and a brass cleaning jag mounted on a rough stick. A cartridge block is bored with 22 holes. The 3 1/2 X 5" case label reads "Adams & Co./9 Finsbury Place South, London, E.C./Warehouse 1 st and second floors,/Manufacturers of /Military & Sporting Arms,/Breech and Muzzle loading of Every Description,/Wholesale and Export". Brass screws and fittings with dovetailed corners. A nice example of an original cased cartridge Adams revolver-This set could be improved with the addition of proper of the the period tools. One very minor blemish in the nickle on the right side of the barrel, most likely from riding in the case. Otherwise an excellent example.
