Antique Remington Derringer With Early 2 Line Address
Description:
SN "5" is found on an early 2 line address Derringer showing 90% of its original uncleaned and unpolished nickel. The most loss is on the left side on the trigger ear and the frame edge; the backstrap shows staining which may not be loss. The protected underside of the barrel shows bright shiny nickel. The bores rate antique very good; bright, strong rifling and scattered light corrosion. Reference see pages 104-109 "The Remington Double Derringer" by Drummon, et al; the early lettering on the top of the barrel on this piece is smaller than the later marking illustrated on page 106. It is speculated that this derringer is from the early batch circa 1872. A superior early example with the decision as to polish left to the next owner. Antique
