Antique Smith & Wesson DA . 32 Caliber 4th Model. Excellent Mechanics.
Description:
SOLD.. An antique Smith & Wesson DA .32 caliber. This is a pretty decent antique Smith & Wesson DA .32 caliber. This is a very early 4th model S/N 69578 and all matching through out of course. The S/N range on this model is 43406 to 282999 and made from 1883 to 1909. As you can see this one was made in the mid 1800's so is absolutely in the antique S/N range. The finish is not bad and the barrel still has about 80% or a bit more of the original nickel finish. There is some light roughness on the left side of the gun and has been cleaned in these spots as you can see in the photos. The barrel has three of these spots on the left side only.. The cylinder has about 80% or more finish with just a small minor spot of the roughness. The frame about 85% or more finish including the front and rear grip straps with some patches of roughness on the left side only also. All the roughness is on the left side of the gun from it laying somewhere with some poor storage. The right side is perfect with no roughness and would display excellent on this side. The markings are excellent. The trigger still shows most all the bright vivid case colors. The trigger guard has about 40% bright blue. The hammer has about 70% case colors. The mechanics are excellent. This gun is crisp and tight as a new gun both in SA and DA !!! Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch. No play or wobbles anywhere on this gun. All the screw heads are excellent and show no use or abuse. Untouched front sight. The grips are excellent with NO cracks or chips and a perfect factory fit. Still showing very fine checkering and luster...The bore is excellent. Bright and shiny with just a couple pin head size spots that will scrub out. The chambers are excellent and bright as well. This is a gun that has seen very little actual use as the mechanics, bore, chambers, grips and markings are all excellent and with the remaining case colors but has had some poor storage over the years on the left side. If not for the areas from poor storage it would be priced a bit higher.. It is what it is but still not a bad gun at all for the money. Would make a fine little shooter with the proper black powder loads of course. $15 insured shipping.
