COLT MODEL 1851 NAVY REVOLVER - US MARTIAL
Description:
Civil War Colt 1851 Navy Revolver - US Martial - Cal. .36 - 7 1/2" Bbl. - SN70XXX (1857) - all matching numbers. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny with sharp rifling - shows a very few minor rough spots. Action is excellent with perfect timing and lock-up. MEtal is excellent overall with no rust, pits, or corrosion - sharp edges and le
tterig. US marking on left side of frame is barely visible, faint and difficult to see, but it is there. Barrel and cylinder retain about 75% to 80% thinning blue drifting to brown beneath - very sharp and crisp cylinder scene. Frame shows some splashes of darkened case color - perfect screws and nipples. A period adjustable front sight is dovetailed in barrel, a fairly common practice employed by CW soldiers and officers to replace the non-adjustable " pin" front sight. Grips show a slight ding on the lower left grip and a barely visible small repair at the escutcheon on the right grip and are otherwise undamaged with good fit to frame and visible cartouches - may have had oil added over original finish which is about 90%. A very nice early 1851 Martial Navy in Fine condition and except for front sight, all original with an exceptional cylinder scene and excellent metal.
