The right grip is decorated with a carved eagle and a Colt shield motif, the eagle has a ruby inlay for the eye. The left side of the grip is inlaid with two gold Mexican medallions which are flush with the surface and curved to conform to the contour of the grip, this is considered to be among the most difficult to execute and is exemplary of the highest degree finish.
