Carl Gustafs Model 1867/89 8mmx58R Danish Krag
Description: This former Swedish military firearm in its original configuration was manufactured by the Carl Gustafs stads Gevarsfaktori in 1888 as evidenced by the Crown C stamp and date on the right side of the receiver and 1888 cartouche date on the right side of the buttstock. The original chambering was 12.17 x 44mm rimfire. In 1896, it was the 101st weapon of its type to undergo arsenal conversion to 8mm x 58R Danish Krag and is so marked on the right side of the hex root of the barrel and forend directly beneath the barrel marking. There are two sets of inspector's initials located on the top of the barrel at the breech and on either side of the 1896 forend date stamping: J.B. - Johan Brandt and G.M. - Gustav Emil Miller. The original serial number of 5723 can be seen on the barrel, forend, buttstock, buttplate, front band, breech block and hammer. The rifle is complete with the original cleaning rod and brass buttstock disc marked "27R, B, No. 1414" implying it was issued to the 27th Infantry Regiment as weapon number 1414. SOLD Manufacturer: 1888 with conversion in 1896 Caliber Info: 8x58R Danish Krag Metal Condition: A majority of the original case coloring remains on the receiver, but the surfaces are moderately oxidized and freckled.
