Civil War Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver
Description:
Serial #138319, .44 cal., 8” barrel with a very good bore that has areas of dark pitting and freckling along its length.
This is an 1863-made revolver that has matching numbers on the components (with the exception of the unnumbered wedge) and an overall pewter gray patina with some scattered areas of freckling and small peen marks scattered about the frame, cylinder, and barrel assembly.
The cylinder itself retains about 10-15% of the naval scene and has some heavier pitting around the nipple cut-outs as well as flattened safety pins along the rear face.
The brass trigger guard is tarnished to a mellow ochre patina while the walnut grip (with visible but illegible cartouches) has minor handling marks and blemishes with an added oil finish over lightly sanded wood and a trio of additional notches cut into the wood on both sides.
The revolver has fairly tight lock-up and the mechanism is fully functional.
This is a great representative example of a Civil War 1860 Army and is in very good-near fine condition overall.
