Colt 1849 Pocket Model. Rough But Working.
Description:
SOLD.. A rough Colt 1849 Pocket Model I am selling for a friend. This is one of three antique revolvers I will be listing for him. As you know , I do not deal in guns in this condition but just helping to possibly sell this stuff so he can purchase better condition guns. This one has the 4" barrel. I believe it has been shortened to this length. The barrel also is mismatched S/N. The S/N of the gun is 319372 and the barrel is 314535. No number on the wedge or the rammer as is correct in this high S/N range. No cylinder scene remaining. This one has a few problems. The gun has been polished over all and has scattered pits here and there. Mostly on the cylinder is the worst of it. The front sight has been replaced and the idiot that did the work drilled clear through the barrel to install the sight !!!! The arbor pin is a replacement and has no number and the cylinder has a shim inside were it slides over the arbor pin to tighten up the cylinder side to side play. The gun does work and it locks up very tight but the locking bolt engages at the half cock. Has tight barrel to frame fit. The bore is average with rifling but light pitting. The markings are all good. The grips have been sanded but no cracks or chips. I also believe the grip strap and trigger guard has been re silvered or nickeled. Why anyone would do this to a gun in this condition is a mystery to me. All in all it is what it is and would be just a wall hanger for decor. About as cheap as you will find just to say you have a 49 Colt Pocket. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $20 insured shipping.
