Description: DANISH MODEL 1867 ROLLING BLOCK .45 DANISH (11.7x51R) MILITARY RIFLE. Made from 1867 to 1896(slowly being phased out by the Krag Jorgensen) they were withdrawn from infantry service, converted to centerfire cartridge and issued to coast and fortress artillerymen. After World War II a large quantity were sold surplus back to the US where these type first entered civilian hands, being misleadingly sold in large quantity as .45-70 Rolling blocks. These are all 11.7x51R centrefire cartridge. No import marks. Armory stamped on upper tang along with "1884". Mint bore and rifling. Nickel barrel bands, forend cap, cleaning rod and sling swivels. Brass button inlet in right side of buttstock with "3AB/2862" stamped in it. Excellent wood(typical storage and carry dings) overall with Danish proofs(crowns) and serial numbers. Excellent screws unturned but missing one of the buttplate screws(buttplate tight nonetheless). Patina overall with no cleaning of metal surfaces. Brass can be had via Buffalo Arms should you wish to convert .45-70 brass to .45 Danish(slight shave of casing). SOLD Antique: Yes |
