The Dieckmann .50 BMG caliber custom semi automatic rifle. The rifle was designed and manufactured by Ralf E. Dieckmann in the time period of 1993 to 1994 in Phoenix and Prescott, Arizona. The rifle was designed along the lines of a typical Assault Rifle scaled up to accommodate the .50 caliber Browning cartridge. The breech mechanism consists of a vertically locking and horizontally reciprocating wedge type breech block. It is driven by a novel “floating” gas system and returns to battery by dual extension springs. The rifle utilizes a 10-shot Barrett magazine. The overall length is 56 ¼ inches. The barrel length is 29 inches. The rifle weighs 35 pounds, unloaded, with the M-14 bipod installed and without optics. The rifle has been fired enough times to establish that it is safe to shoot. Due to the high cost of .50 caliber ammunition, it has not been endurance tested to establish its long-term reliability. For that reason, the rifle is offered for sale as a ONE OF A KIND prototype/collector’s item only. What is not included in the sale is any intellectual property which may reside in the mechanism of the rifle. Ralf E. Dieckmann, the designer, would be happy to work with any manufacturer interested in further developing this prototype rifle for retail sales. The sale includes the rifle, one magazine, an M-14 bipod and a Pelican case (not pictured).
