FIRST MODEL WINCHESTER 1873
Description:
This 73 is just in to the 6k serial range. Standard configuration rifle with round bbl, full mag and crescent butt. It does have what appears to be an orig but slightly modified front sight. It has the early short correct rear sight that has been repaired. Thumbprint dust cover. Overall metal is the normal medium grey patina. Good bbl markings and the "1873" on the upper tang is very visible. The bore is quite good with good rifling. No real pitting and just some light roughness throughout, some of which could be leading and may clean up. Action is crisp and clean with good springs on both hammer and trigger. Wood is above average for a first model. Numerous use marks but good fitting. All four corners are good. No losses. Shows age but good overall cond and a good example of a first model 73.
