FRANCOTTE O/U 12 BORE - 1947 - SMEET ENGRAVED - NICE GUN in ORIGINAL COND. - Overall a 95% Original Gun - 6 Lbs. 14 Oz. - Double Trigger - Very Well Cut Engraving ///////////////////////// Auguste Francotte Brevete A Liege 12 Bore Over & Under Made in 1947 and Engraved by L. Smeet, 27 5/8" Demi Bloc Acier Comprime Cap JF Solid Rib Barrels at .708 .004 & .026 (Skt I & Imp.Mod), 2 3/4" chambers, It left the Belgium proof house at 17.9MM bores which is .705 Bores, 1.299 KG weight barrels, Double under lugs, Double cross bolt top lock, Scalloped action back, Double triggers, 3 piece game forend with finger grooves, Straight hand stock at 14 3/8 x 1 3/8 x 2 1/4" over a checkered butt, Slight cast-off for the right hand, Nice game gun weight of 6 lbs. 14 oz., 98% coverage of very nice scroll with a lot of floral and leaf including border work and deep chiseled balls of the action on a soft coin finish by the master Mr. Smeet and signed, Very nice European walnut with very good color and contrast, The face of the breech retains 98% original case colors, It has 4 locking screws for key screws, This piece is 1947 original and both metal and wood remain at 94-95% with a few scattered handling marks. I would put the metal at 96-97% with bores as new. Good maker, attractive, great vintage, excellent engraving and comes to hand with style and grace.
