French Model 1892 Revolver by St. Etienne with G.I. Bring-Back Paper
Description: Serial #L34471, 7.5mm French Rev., 4 1/2? barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This is a 1924 dated revolver that has retained 70-75% of the original blue finish with scattered mild freckling and dull silvering along the projecting edges, corners, trigger guard, and sideplate. The hammer, trigger, and loading gate retain visible traces of their original straw color mixing with freckled gray metal on the balance. The checkered walnut grips are in very good plus shape with some light-moderate flattening of the points and a few minor handling marks and surface blemishes, heaviest on the right panel. As one would expect, the action is solid and functions flawlessly and the revolver rates very good condition overall. The revolver is accompanied by a Nov. 13, 1945 dated bring-back certificate issued to T/4 Frank Soverns by Capt. H.S. Schiprken, 779th Ord. Co. The revolver is was mistakenly listed by its barrel date on the certificate but this is a neat piece of World War II militaria and a very good example of a Vichy or German-used French revolver. {Ref. ?French Service Handguns 1858-2004? by Medlin & Huon; 2004} FFL or C&R SOLD Manufacturer: French Model: 1892 Serial Number: L34471 Caliber Info: 7.5mm Gauge Info: 7.5mm |
