Gem Mint Colt SAA
.45 Colt mfg. 1891
Nickel - Texas shipped
Description:
Last week I posted a gem mint restored to new Colt SAA 44-40 mfg in 1897. From the same collection and same work shop comes this equally incredible Colt. It was shipped to Walter Tips in Austin Texas on July 11, 1891 in a shipment of two guns. It left the factory as a 4 3/4" nickel .45 and now looks just like it did when it first was shipped to that little shop in Texas 123 years ago.. The gun was polished assmembled so that there are no round edges and the lines as tight as new. The lettering looks just as it did when originally made. Mint original gutta percha grips. All the proper small parts are fire blued. Bore is mint. Gun has all original parts from this era and made by Colt. Walter Tips owned the Tips company in Austin beginning in 1872 when he bought out his brothers business which opened in 1857. It was a highly successful hardware business that still operates in Austin to this day. Another time capsule Colt from the hey day of the wild west in Texas. It was riding on the trail when John Wesley Hardin was killed in El Paso in 1895. A true gem that looks just like it did the day it arrived in Texas in 1891 at the hardware store. Often refered to as the Bat Masterson model as he favored this exact style gun in 4 3/4" nickel, 45 with rubber grips. Can be shipped right to your door as it is a legal antique firearm that needs no legal paperwork.
