This is a Gwyn & Campbell Civil War Carbine, AKA Union Carbine. Quite a few Union Cavalry outfits were armed with these. U.S. Ordnance issued 13 contracts for the Gwyn & Campbell for a total of 8,202 carbines. The 7th Tennessee, 5th & 8th Ohio, 4 & * Missouri, 3rd Wisconsin and 13 other Calvary Outfits were equipped with this carbine. It is a 52 caliber percussion breach loading Carbine. It retains 99% blue and case colors and is serial number 3667. This according to Flayderman’s book is a Type I but is really a Type II. I have never encountered a better condition Gwyn & Campbell than this one.
I would consider trades for pre 1899 ANTIQUE PISTOLS and rifles on any of my items.. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO TRADE? Ask about our 30-90 day lay-away program. We accept Bank Check, Money order, Personal checks or wire transfer.
