HOLLAND & HOLLAND 20 BORE PAIR of ROYAL DELUXE GAME GUNS - DELUXE COOGAN ENGRAVING with THE TEXAS TRIO of QUAIL - Superb Acanthus Leaf with Quail Scenes - 15" LOP - Straight Hand Stocks - Finished in 1987 - 5 Lbs. 8 Oz. - Double Triggers - Overall They Remain in 96% Original Condition ///////////////////////// #40800 & 40801, Holland & Holland, 33 Bruton Street, London: A True Pair of Royal Deluxe Hand Detachable Self Opening Sidelock 20 Bore Game Guns Finished in 1987 Engraved with The Texas Trio of Quail, 26” Ejector Chopper Lump barrels, Both guns with coin finish and beautifully engraved with Quail scenes and acanthus leaf by Master Engraver Mr. Philip Coggan and signed in 6 different areas, The #1 gun at .618 .011 & .023 (Tight Imp.Cyl & Imp. Mod.), 2 ¾” at 5 lbs. 8 oz, The #2 gun at .617 .010 & .020 (Tight Imp.Cyl. & Imp.Mod.), 2 ¾” at 5 lbs. 8 oz., The guns proved in London in 1984 at 3 1/4 Tons and 2 3/4", Mr. Coggan signed the engraving in 1987, Hand detachable locks, Double triggers, Splinter forend, Straight hand stock at 15 x 1 1/2 x 2 3/8" on both guns over a checkered butt with steel heel and toe plates, Swept comb for the right hand and they come to hand beautifully. Superb Deluxe engraving by Mr. Coggan with each scene distinctly different with Bobwhite, Blue or Scaled and Gambel Quail with 2 birds of prey. This trio of Quail represents the Texas Trio of native wild Quail. Both guns remain totally original except the stocks were re-oiled to freshen them up but not refinished. Both guns were stripped and cleaned recently in our shop. The original barrel blue remains at 96%; the stocks as re-oiled at 97% and the bores are as new. The whole is cased in a deluxe leather motorcase with all the original accessories still wrapped in the original tissue paper. Here is a superbly engraved pair of H&H 20 bores at well below replacement that remains in excellent plus condition.
