Ithaca Grade 6E 12 Gauge ****REDUCED PRICE
Description: Ithaca Grade 6E 12 Gauge Single Barrel Trap RARE! "KNICK" SINGLE BARREL TRAP 34" General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1930, 12 Gauge, 8lbs 1oz, SBT Serial Number: 402050T The Ithaca Gun Co. produced the most iconic trap gun ever invented, the Knickerbocker Single Barrel Trap Gun. In production from 1922 until the last Knick was made in 1982, 5740 were produced, EACH ONE HAD ALL PARTS HAND FITTED, METAL FINELY HAND ENGRAVED BY MASTER ENGRAVERS, AND FINELY FIGURED WOOD HAND FITTED AND CHECKERED BY THE BEST WOOD MEN IN THE BUSINESS. You just don't find that in today's world of fine guns until you get into 5 figure costs. By 1935 the Knick in the hands of able shooters won the Grand American Handicap six times, by 1976 was responsible for over 25% of the total wins at the Grand American, and has been the most well known single barrel trap gun in American history. This gun, sn 402050T built in 1930, is EXTREMELY RARE. Walt Snyder mentions in his book “The Ithaca Gun Co.- From the Beginning” that they never catalogued a Grade 6 when the Knickerbocker model replaced the Flues model. He does note that several were documented as having been produced by customer request, and this is one of them. All of my clients that are serious Ithaca collectors have told me this is the hardest Ithaca to find to fill their collection. Very interesting is that the inlays on the right and left side of the receiver are a combintion of gold and silver. It is hard to see in the photos because of the flash, but the Indian has silver on his head dress, loin cloth, and the arrow and string on the bow are silver. The hat and pants on the trap shooter are silver as well. The gun is mechanically perfect in every way, tight on hinge and breach face as a new gun and mirror bore. The 34" barrel is highly desirable and hard to find as well. This is an investment quality gun in as new or unfired condition since a professional restoration, and is still ready to “kicks tail” on the trap line, and will appreciate in value as you enjoy its use. Not sure if the pad is original, if you prefer an Ithaca sunburst pad we can install one included in the price.
