Japanese Type 38 Training Rifle

Description:
A training rifle with the following features, a 6.5mm smoothbore barrel, one piece stock with no recoil bolt, a very short 4 1/2" cleaning rod, a peep sight graduated from 300 to 1700 meters , a very low serial No "72" with "48" on the bolt. The training rifles had no mum on the receiver and all other arsenal marks and numbers have been removed. The stock once had a white painted "school" mark on the left stock which has now mostly flaked off. As is common with these trainers, some parts from other models were utilized. This one has a type 99 nose cap with bayonet lug and 2 screws. Some small Japanese characters are stamped into the wood forward of the rear sling swivel. The buttplate is the flat stamped steel variety. FFL or C&R Please.
