Joseph Harkom & Son 12 Bore Scottish Bar Action Hammergun Rebarreled By The Maker with 30” Nitro Steel Barrels
Description: *** SOLD *** This Joseph Harkom & Son bar action hammergun represents a rare opportunity to buy a recemtly restored hammer double from one of the top tier Scottish gunmakers. Serial number 1210 was made in Edinburgh in 1871. Number 1 of a pair. Rebarrelled by the maker(serial number 2395) in 1904 with 30” nitro steel it has extractors and double triggers. Frame is marked "Joseph Harkom & Son". Faint traces of the original case coloring remain. Excellent mechanical condition. Weight 6lb 10oz. *** The 30” nitro steel barrels were chambered and London reproofed for 2-3/4” cartridges sometime after 1989. The right barrel is bored 0.730 with a constriction of 0.004 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026. The left barrel is bored 0.730 with a constriction of 0.017 for Half choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.028. Topped with a raised solid concave game style rib inscribed “Harkom & Son Edinburgh”. *** The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made from an exquisite highly figured piece of walnut. The dimensions are 15” including a 1” brown leather pad by 1-1/2” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the right hand shooter. *** The tip of the “ear’ on the right hammer was broken but has been expertly repaired. *** Nicely cased in a leather case with maker’s label, charge card, snap caps, mahogany cleaning rod, nipple wrench, and wedge forend fastener removal tool. If you’ve ever been on a Scottish grouse moor you already know why you should own this gun. *** Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges.
