ROGERS & SPENCER ARMY MODEL REVOLVER
Description: Rogers & Spencer Army Model Revolver - Cal. .44 - 7 1/2" Bbl. - SN 43XX( Sept. 1864). This Rogers & Spencer looks to be new and never fired - bore and action are perfect - original blue is still in the chambers, and there are no drag marks on the cylinder - retains 95% + original blue showing only some light flaking on the left side of barrel and part of cylinder from storage. Metal is perfect with no rust, pits, or corrosion - sharp edges and markings. Gov't inspector "B" markings on barrel, frame, hammer, trigger guard, butt, and grips. Grips are perfect with no wear and retain 100% finish - "RPB" inspector marks on grips - right grip has a very tiny and barely visible chip at rear heel. A total of only 5800 of these revolvers were made in 1864 and all but 800 were shipped to the US Army but were never issued due to the ending of the Civil War. The US inventory was purchased by Bannerman in 1901 and sold commercially. This is a super example of a rare Civil War cintract revolver that was never issued and this is one that was obviously never used or fired and can be classed as "New".and would make a great centerpiece in a Civil War collection.
