Rare German LP.08 Artillery Luger Pistol by Erfurt
Description: Serial #4699a, 9mm Para., 7 3/4” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some faint traces of freckling within the grooves. This is a 1914 dated pistol that has matching numbers on all of the metal parts including the rear sight base, tangent, and slider. The metal retains 80-85% of the original blue finish which has silvered at the muzzle and faded to a mixed gray/plum-brown color along the raised edges and projections as well as general gray fading along the gripstraps. The sideplate, likewise, has a general plum-brown patina as well. There is mottled freckling, but the metal is smooth without any texture or pitting. Traces of original straw color mixing with darker freckled spots are still present on the trigger, take-down lever, and ejector but not on the safety which has an overall plum-blue patina. The checkered wooden grips are numbered to the gun on the interior, and have light-moderate wear and flattening of the points on both panels, but heaviest on the left side. A single, matching numbered, wood-base magazine with a single with-the-grain crack is included. This is a very nice example of a desirable, war dated, Artillery Luger by Erfurt (much scarcer than DWM examples), with a terrific bore and rates very good-fine condition overall.
