STARR ARMS CO. D.A. ARMY CONVERSION .44CF CAL. REVOLVER CIRCA EARLY 1870’S. 6 shot with 6” barrel. Civil War percussion revolver converted to cartridge by adding a plate to the recoil shield and welding a new 3/8” section on the back of the cylinder to receive the cartridge. To load one unscrews the rear frame screw near the hammer and the barrel rotates on the tip up hinge bolt and the cylinder is removed and manually loaded. Post Civil War with the expiration of the Rollin White patents. Few are known and they may have been converted for an overseas government contract. Fine overall with most of the period blue finish. Excellent working order. Bore is very fine plus. Original grips with the original finish and U.S. Civil War inspection cartouches.
