Smith & Wesson No. 2 Old Army .32RF Revolver Pre Civil War
Description:
Serial #5911, .32 RF, 6" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of freckling within the grooves at the breech.
This is a handsome revolver that has matching assembly numbers on the frame, cylinder, and barrel and retains about 50% of the original blue, mostly on protected areas, that blends smoothly with a mellow freckled gray patina on the balance.
There is evidence of some light surface cleaning, most noticeably on the sideplate, but the edges are still crisp and sharp and there is hardly pitting present.
The hammer has faint traces of the original color case-hardening remaining but is mostly a smooth gray patina and the barrel lock-up is tight without any discernible lateral play.
The rosewood grips are numbered to the gun on the interior and have the original varnish remaining with a few minor scratches on either panel and a single small chip at the heel on the right side.
The mechanism functions flawlessly and the revolver rates fine condition overall. Antique
