Smith and Wesson Old Model No 2. "Minty" LONDON-MADE Smith & Wesson "Old Model No.2 Army" .32 Caliber Revolver
Description: Sold! Reduced!!! Smith and Wesson Old Model No 2. Ultra-Rare, "Minty" LONDON-MADE Smith & Wesson "Old Model No.2 Army" .32 Caliber Revolver Comes With CS-Made style Holster! Superb London-Made "Brevette" ("Copy") of the Famed S&W .32 Army Revolver, bearing loads of Original Bluing, 100% Original, Complete, Fully-Functional Stunning CS-Made Russet-Leather Holster for a S&W Army No. 2 VIvid markings all over revolver, from the London Proofs everywhere, the entire Cylinder Patent Dating is Fully legible, to the "Smith & Wesson Pattern Model" on top of the Barrel. Initials "C W S" and "NC" Carved Into Bottom The great and "iconic" Smith & Wesson gunmakers did design and produce some of the finest quality self-encased cartridge-firing revolvers just before, during, and obviously long after the Civil War. The Smith & Wartime usage amongst the wealthy officer-class in the Union Army is well noted, and several cavalry regiments carried them. And it was because of their quality and desirability was indeed so good, they had to face an onslaught of "copy-cat," patent-infringing gunmakers over the entire world. England wasn't above "copying" a "good thing"!!! This is a spectacular example of the expected high quality London-made (and prolifically-marked with their usual London proofs about the barrel and cylinder) specimen, which is one of the best condition specimens of this full-size S&W "Old Army No. 2 Model" rare English "brevette" ("copy"). Everything is 100% ORIGINAL, 100% fully functional, 100% complete, bearing 100% legible/crisp markings, as legible as the day it was made--including the entire tiny patent date stampings around the cylinder! It's the full size .32 caliber, 6-shot, 6" octagonal barrel, with great rifling. Loads of original bluing, with it just-fading over the entire piece. The mechanics are excellent--easy open tab and action. The top of the barrel has the almost identical Smith & Wesson barrel-marking, but they use "Smith and Wesson Pattern Model." On the bottom of the outstanding grips--with no cracking are the lightly hand-carved initials of "C W S" in cursive writing, and then "NC" in same cursive writing. Given that this was a wartime-produced copy of the "Old Army No. 2" Smith & Wesson .32 caliber cartridge fitring revolver, the Southerner who most likely purchased it must have made a private purchase that ran the blockade. This holster is Confederate in every way. Not only can you obviously see it was hand cut to form fit to this Old Army Model No. 2 Revolver, using classic Southern brown russet-leather, then hand stitched, with tooled edging (usually indicating a fine arsenal or fine leather-maker), slits cut for the belt loop and the large, bulbous high copper-content CS "brass" utility rivet for the closure tab. Above source information from Civil War expert John Spicer Champion Hill Relics where I purchased this gun. Buyer will receive letter of purchase from John Spicer.
