Super Rare Webley WG Presentation Grade Church Steeple Cylinders
Description: This one really hurts to part with.... You are looking at the Webley WG given to a young David DeForrest Morehouse on his Commission in the Kings Royal Rifles Corps (KRRC) in 1915 by the Concessionaires and Staff of Kursaal Amusement Park, Londons only amusement park. Morehouses's father owned the park and after his service Morhouse took it over. He was a preminent footballer and Owner of the South End Football Club which merged later with the Tottenham Hotspurs. Morehous served as an officer in the KRRC and later in the Royal Engineers before leaving the service in 1921 to take over Kursaal. The park operated until 1973. Now for the pistol itself. It's of the highest grade bluing Webley offered and retains %85 of it. Top of barrel states that it was an Army Navy C&L. The trigger and hammer are high polish steel and the front blade sight is brass. It has the super rare Church Steeple cylinder and the hidden internal mechanical parts which is more like the Pryce model. Serial number is a super rare "2 digit" and is 1615. The backstrap features a detailed description which Reads "Presented to Deforrest Morehouse By The Consesionaires and Staff Of The Kursall Southend By The Sea 2nd July 1915 With Their Best Wishes On His Joining The k.R.R.C." With a complete purchase you get the Webley WG in all its timeless glory, the book "Kursaal Memories" which is a historical account of the park and the Deforrest Morehouse family. SOLD Antique: Yes |
