Swedish Model 1896 Rifle by Mauser
Description: Serial #23008, 6.5mm Mauser, 28 3/4” barrel with threaded muzzle and a fine, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is an 1899 dated and all matching rifle that retains 92-95% of the original blue finish that has silvered slightly along some of the high edges and bearing surfaces with a commensurate amount of the original bright blue on the bolt latch and a lightly freckled bright armory finish on the bolt. An import mark is present on the right side of the barrel near the muzzle and the matching band and nosecap have a dull blue-black phosphate finish rather than blue. A post-war Swedish military replacement front sight blade has also been fitted. The walnut stock and handguard exhibit numerous minor handling marks and surface blemishes in the military oil finish but there are no chips or cracks. The rifle comes with an unnumbered cleaning rod and is a very good-fine example of a desirable German-made Swedish Mauser.
