US Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor in 45-70
Description:
This rifle has been modified from the original to make a replica of the Model 1875 Trapdoor Officers Model, which was not a military issue rifle, but could be bought by the officers. This does not have the engraving or checkered stock that would have adorned an Officers model. The add on pistol grip is steel and would have been wood on the original; and the barrel is too long. The Officers model had a 26 inch barrel. The mounting for the tang sight is also questionable.
