Description: 30" SxS barrels with concave matted rib choked modified & improved modified. 14 3/8" pull from front trigger to well-fit checkered 5/8"walnut extension. 1 5/8" - 2 5/8" drop. 1/4" cast-off. Figured European walnut stock with Deeley-release splinter forend with slight horn schnabel tip, horn capped pistol grip, classic point-pattern checkering---which wraps completely over the top of the wrist, and vacant silver oval. Fully scroll engraved, casecolored action with Greener crossbolt and manual Greener side safety. Weight, exactly correct according to Greener's rule of 96, at 7lbs, 4oz. Original Birmingham proofs for 2 1/2" chambers and 1 1/4oz shot. Reproofed for 2 3/4" chambers. Built in 1924, when it sold for 50 guineas. 99% barrel blue. 95% casehardening colors on all but the underside of the action where they are worn to about 40%. Tight, and with excellent bores. Provenance: Henry Havemeyer Jr., of the family of Henry O. Havemeyer, the Sugar King, of New York City and Greenwich, Connecticut, and major benefactor of the Metropolitan Museum.
