WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 PRESENTATION RIFLE
Description:
Cal 38-40. Orig 24" oct bbl and full length mag tube. Excellent bore. Flip up beeches combination front sight. Typical second model rifle rear sight. Thick base tang sight with a 4" staff. Very interesting gun. Gun letters as a 38-40 full oct bbl with sling swivels and a set trigger. However the gun was sent back to the factory several times and on one occasion it received a factory inscription applied on the side plate and butt plate. Side plate and lever have been nickel trimmed. Gun has orig blue and I believe the nickel trim was factory done. Looks perfect. Inscription reads "George W Green Pittsburg PA February 21, 1883". The gun is in the 2nd model serial range at 75k. Excellent + cond. 98% bright vivid blue overall. Side plates and lever have 98% of the nickel intact and have toned to a pleasing patina. Butt plate retains 90% nickel with just a bit of flaking. Correct dust cover. Straight grained walnut stocks are in excellent cond. Very attractive interesting gun!
