WINCHESTER MODEL 94 PRESENTATION RIFLE
Description:
Cal 25-35. 24" half oct bbl. Globe front sight. Lyman flip up rear sight. Folding tang sight. Gun features D style carving on a pistol grip 3X grade deluxe wood which retains all the high gloss lacquer finish. Complete with a checkered shotgun style butt plate. The forend cap, take down ring, receiver and butt plate are gold guilted and retain about 90% of that guilting with just a slight toning to the color. Hammer and lever retain all the case colors. Bbl and mag tube retain virtually all the blue. A fantastic gun featuring #4 pattern engraving. Presentation was to " George Rutledge by R. M. Dudley January 1, 1912". New Mexico became a state that year and R.M. Dudley was a private detective at the time. Who knows what prompted such an elaborate gift? The gun came out of Sante Fe a number of years ago and is pictured in all the Winchester books. Very interestingly, on page 122 of the Winchester American Legend by R.L. Wilson, there is a layout of the Winchester Highly Finished Arms Catalog that belonged to one of their salesmen. His name, A.C. Albert, is written on the outside of it. Page 10 of that catalog lists this gun by the inscription and all the features. 25-35 cal, 24" bbl, gold guilting, carved stocks and the cost of labor.( Ironic that we found the historical significance of that Highly Finished Arms Catalog.) This gun is one of the best 94's in the country. All original complete with double set triggers. Engraved by John Ulrich as the lower tang is so stamped. Super gun!
