Description:
This Colt New Service has the 5 1/2" barrel with a bright, excellent bore and cylinders. The serial number is 131372 built in 1917. A small letter E is punched under the left grip indicating production during war time. Reference page 17 in the book "Colt New Service Revolvers" by Bob Murphy. About 85% of the original blue remains with silvered areas on the top strap, muzzle and rear cylinder sharp edges. The remainder shows a dull Colt military type blue finish. Import marked in the crane cut out. Fine condition checkered hard rubber grips. This piece rides in an unmarked WWI British holster. The leather shows cracking on the flap and broken stitching on the top 1 1/2" back seam. This Colt saw obvious service in the great war and shows British military proofing. FFL or C&R
