Warner Bros. Prop Musket Used in the Original “Alamo” Movie. This is an original 1873 Trapdoor Springfield (with all correct markings) was modified by Warner Brothers Studios in the 1960’s for the movie “The Alamo” starring John Wayne. The musket is modified to appear to be a flintlock, with a brass lock and rifle bands to resemble, from a distance, the muskets carried by Santa Anna’s Mexican troops. In today’s movie world, where the extras carry resin props, this musket reflects the bygone era of Hollywood when real ingenuity (and cheap, AT THE TIME) surplus arms were used as props. The rifle also has an authentic-looking white leather sling, as used by the Mexican Army at the time. This musket will display very nicely over your mantle or on the wall, and will be quite a conversation piece. Due to it’s use in a famous John Wayne movie, the musket has collector value for both the military firearms collector, and the Hollywood memorabilia collector.
