Winchester 1890 22 Short Rifle
Description:
S# 641431, .22 short , 24 inch octagon barrel, very good bore with strong crisp rifling and a few specks of erosion.
This third model 1890 features a third style hammer, sixth type tang marking and unusual barrel marking with 1890 and 22 short in the roll marked inscription.
Front sight is a No 75A bead rear is a 30 B.
Gun shows careful use with near excellent bore.
Receiver and mag tube have developed a brown patina, barrel shows 60% blue with scattered light staining.
Butplate is brown with areas of pitting.
Wood shows typical marks with about 70% finish remaining.
Gun was built in November 1919 and still shoots quite well, inner magazine tube catches on cases sometimes and requires gentle shaking and patience to fully close on 14 cartridges.
A classic Winchester pump 22 ready for many more years of service. FFL or C&R
