Winchester 1892 rifle 25/20
antique ca 1896
Description:
This listing is for a lovely 1892 antique winchester rifle born in 1896. The action is as smooth as butter and is crisp loads and ejects proper. the only thing i did was clean the action and light oil it it very smooth since i cleaned it throughly, Notice the wood to metal fit is just the way it left the factory 119 years ago. the wood show no cracks or chips or missing peices does show bump and bruises over a 120 years. the wood also has the winchester deep red just the way you like them. the 24 inch octogon barrel retains 90% thining blue and the edges are sharp. the bore is was very dirty i ran maybe 40 patches through it and a wire brush to get all the crud out I also used a new type foam cleaner. the bore cleaned up a lot is still dark and the rifeling is there not like it was when new but theres enough there to spin a bullet. the lands and grooves are a bit shallow but will grab bullet and spin it. Also note the barrel has a winchester factory proof mark which means went back to factory for a barrel replacement. I would think a facory letter from cody would attest to it authenticty. over all this is a pretty sharp rifle. Notice the screw heads are in decent shap they have been turned but not a whole lot. the receiver is turning plumb with 30 % blue in the protected area with normal carry wear underneath....the Front sight is a beeches folding with Ivory bead also rear sight is a winchester rocky mountain sporting adjustable sight.......with over 50 years fooling around with winchester rifles my opinion of this rifle is it honest has not been played with just a nice clean solid old rifle for hanging or shooting...... and it looks fairly clean circa 1896. serial 121,xxx........I do ship to the world where allowed........
