Winchester 1894 CIL Cartridge Test Rifle
Description:
S#311696, 26 inch octagon barrel, 30 WCF, Very good bore with strong rifling and frosting in the grooves.
This 1905 built rifle is stamped "C11" on buttstock and a light electric penciled "Simpson Ltd" import marking beside the lever
link on receiver bottom.
This was purchased in Canada from Canadian Industries Ltd.
It was a test gun, from the Ammunition Division.
Receiver is flaking but still retains 75% blue.
Barrel and tube show 60% blue with stains and scratches.
Wood is sound with many marks under some added oil.
The butstock may have been replaced at some point. This was one of a small number of arms that were not destroyed after the closing of the CIL plant in Quebec.
A 1894 Winchester with some history of its usage. No provenance or pertinent info on the zip sheet. Only the story of where we purchased the gun
