Winchester M 1894 Takedown Short Rifle
Description:
S# 600798; .30 WCF (30-30), 22 inch barrel, good bore with evenly worn rifling.
This special order rifle features a takedown frame with 22 inch round barrel, short 8 3/8 inch forend, rear slot 4" from receiver, case colored hammer and lever, nickel steel barrel and early long tang buttplate.
Rifle is built on a second type receiver with second style "Tombstone" hammer and third style tang marking with "Trade Mark Reg. in U.S. Pat. Off."
Rifle remains in very good condition with receiver flaked clean with some brown staining.
Hammer and lever show strong traces of case colors.
Barrel and mag tube retain perhaps 80% original blue, buttplate is bright with evidence of cleaned oxidation and a little light pitting.
Stocks show wear with a little oil added long ago, forend has a repaired crack in bottom and a short (1 inch long) crack on left side by receiver.
Barrel is importer marked on left side by forend cap.
The takedown flange shows three dimples from tightening screws, takedown is slightly loose.
This is a very desirable 1912 built rifle with short wood forend that will add to any fine Winchester Collection. FFL or C&R
