This is a Winchester Model 1876 in .40-60 Winchester Center Fire. The finish on the receiver is mainly a brown patina, with some spots of bare metal on the high surfaces, and some scratches and dings. The barrel is full octagonal, with a finish that is mainly turning plum , with some bare metal around the sharp edges. The forearm is wood, and on the right hand side it has what appears to be hand cut field checkering, that apepars to have been done with a knife (visible in photos). The forearm has multiple dents, dings, scratches and abrasions, with one large one on the left side of the forearm (visible in photos). The buttstock is made from wood, and has a hand carved Moose on the left hand side, and a Elk on the right side. The buttstock has multiple dents, dings, scratches, and abrasions. This firearm was manufactured in 1885.
