Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Rifle .45-70 Gov't.
Description:
This Model 1886 Deluxe Rifle dates from 1900 and was one of the last of its kind to leave the factory with case coloring on the frame, buttplate and forend cap. After 1901 at approximately S/N 122000 (this gun is S/N: 122606) the Winchester factory blued these components. All of the visible screws have been turned and the loading gate screw shows evidence of being forcibly extracted with some collateral damage to the surrounding metal. As stated elsewhere, the wood has been refinished and shows evidence of some oversanding. The forend shows a hairline crack extending from left side bottom of the nosecap for a distance of approximately 1-1/2". All factors considered, this is a fairly good example of the genre and is priced to sell.
