Winchester Model 1895 Flatside Rifle
Description:
ON HOLD PENDING PAYMENT
This is a rare early production Model 1895 Flatside Rifle in a Caliber 30/40 Government (Krag). It is one of the nicest ones I've seen for the money. It comes with a Cody Museum Letter and a new box of 30-40 cartridges. Only the first 5000 1895's had the early Flatside frame. Serial number 31XX. Top of barrel is marked "30 U.S." and the Winchester barrel address is still visible. Standard front ramp sight with original German silver blade. Rear sight is a standard semi-buckhorn. Barrel and the receiver looks like it might have had an older blue refinish, but the bluing still looks great. Nice action and very shootable fine bore, with very strong rifling. There are no cracks, or repairs to the wood, but the stock has F T over the number 4 carved into it. Interesting ID markings, maybe military. There are no cracks, or repairs to the wood. Both the stock and forearm look like they have the original stain and varnish with the original black ebony insert. Overall, the wood is quite nice, just the usual light handling marks. I'm not an expert on this model so I tried to describe this Winchester rifle and priced it accordingly. I have not shot this rifle, but I feel It would make a nice collectable or hunting rifle. $50.00 Shipping in a hard case and tracking number provided. This is a pre-1898 antique and no FFL is required. No sales to California.
