Winchester Model 70 7MM Pre 1964
Description:
Winchester Model 70 7MM Rifle
PRE 1964, SUPER GRADE, CARBINE, 7MM, RARE, MINTY!
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1948, 7x57 mauser, 8lbs 3oz, Bolt Action Rifle
Serial Number: 81583
Model 70 collectors...THIS IS A COLLLECTOR'S DREAM! Referred to as a "cross style" factory offering, a special order, uncataloged version of the Super Grade in one of the rarest of calibers, the 7MM Mauser. Not only is this a one-of-a-kind Super Grade, but it is flat out factory original in every way, including 99% factory blue and wood finish, perfect checkering, a mint, rare, desirable Model 70 transition gun, sn81583 made in 1948. The wood has only a few tiny handling marks, unaltered since leaving the factory with the original checkered steel buttplate and factory sling swivels intact, and essentially ALL OF THE ORIGINAL FINISH. The barrel markings, proper black oxide bluing on receiver, barrel, and bolt handle, are all factory 99% condition. This is a Type II-l carbine, with 20" barrel with excellent bore, proper Winchester #22-G rear sight, proper Redfield #255 gold bead front sight, proper inspection marks on the bolt handle from that era, and proper tapped holes in the receiver for scope mounts. The significance of the 7mm Mauser caliber in a Super Grade Carbine cannot be overstated. There were only 1470 Model 70 rifles in all configurations made in 7mm Mauser, or .25% of all production, the 4th most rare caliber. Combine this with the carbine #3 barrel option and THIS RIFLE HAS IT ALL...RARITY, DESIRABILITY, AND CONDITION; THE PERFECT QUALITIES FOR THE STRONGEST INVESTMENT QUALITY FIREARM. Don't hesitate, as this is likely the only Model 70 you will ever see in this configuration and condition, certainly the finest Model 70 I have ever owned.
